ABSTRACT

The ERP was a significant step in an ongoing evolution of computer tools that began in the late 1960’s. It evolved out of Material Resource Planning (MRP). Each chronological step is built on the fundamentals and principles developed within the earlier one. Information Technology has had a major impact on these trends. These are the important and new concepts have been in developing stage.

Paper is the amalgam of two separate studies conducted in Pune and in Jaipur under the same Supervisor and is assimilated for publication herein.

This paper(i)  highlights some of the issues on which organization can decide to develop an expert system for decision making in implementation of ERP and comments on the reasons for its failure based on the author’s investigative research..(ii) In doing so, the author raises certain vital issues that decision makers have to contend with and face up to.
