ABSTRACT
In India, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector contributes one third of India’s national exports and also 40% towards the output in the manufacturing sector. MSME sector has been recognized as one of the key sector for employment generation and often termed as ‘labour intensive industries’. While this is also true that the rise and growth of modern manufacturing units with a complicated industrial system has given rise to various labour issues. Therefore, it is of economic significance as it provides labour with what it cannot voluntarily get and thus seeks to establish harmonious relations between the employers and the employed.
The research study focuses on the present condition of labourers employed in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The study highlightens their working conditions and the social security & welfare benefits provided to the labourers in their working units and compare these conditions in two districts of Uttar Pradesh namely Agra and Gautam Budh Nagar. The research also focuses on the problems of labourers and provides suggestions to overcome the problems of labourers working in MSME units.
