ABSTRACT
Aim of the Study: The study attempt to answer the question; How Delor’s Commission influences Indian education in 21st century
Design/Methodology: This study is conducted through qualitative method of research and uses books, journals and empirical views of researcher wherever necessary. The secondary qualitative information has been used from the available source of internet.
Findings: The four pillars of Delor’s Commission define the main components of a comprehensive education as: learning to know, learning to do, learning to live together, and learning to be. The four main sorts of learning that occur throughout a person's life—knowing, doing, coexisting, and being—should form the foundation of education. This commission gives priority on learning and understanding to know which again emphasizes information acquisition, critical thinking abilities.
Practical Implications: Delor’s Commission emphasized the development of skills and values for both individual and collective lives in order to promote peace, human rights, democracy, and sustainable development through a comprehensive, lifelong educational process.
Originality/value: The current study makes a substantial contribution to influence Indian education in a large extent. The new curriculum of Indian education particularly of CCFUP (NEP) syllabus has been introduced. The New Education Policy has also been framed corresponding to the fundamental pillars of Delor’s Commission (1996).
