JOB SATISFACTION IN RELATION TO SCHOOL CLIMATE AMONG SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHERS

ABSTRACT

The present study has been undertaken to study the job satisfaction in relation to School climate among secondary school teachers. The sample consists of 200 secondary school teachers (100 female and 100 male) from various Government (100) and Private (100) schools of Amritsar District with more experience (10yrs or more) and (less than 10 years). The data was collected by using standardized scale of Teacher’ s Job Satisfaction Scale (TJSS – Mudgil, Mehar, & Bhatia; 2012); School climate Scale (SCS – Singh & Imam, 2005). The conclusions revealed a significant difference in: job satisfaction among female and male secondary school teachers, in favour of female teachers; teachers teaching in govt. and private schools in favour of government school teachers; teachers with more and less experience in favour of more experienced teachers. Again, it revealed a significant difference in perception of School climate: among female and male secondary school teachers in favour of female teachers; teachers teaching in govt. and private schools in favour of government school teachers; teachers with more and less experience in favour of more experienced teachers. A significant positive relationship between job satisfaction and perception of School climate of secondary school teachers was found.
