ABSTRACT
Employee welfare has emerged as one of the most significant human resource practices for enhancing employee satisfaction, motivation, productivity, and organizational effectiveness. Organizations today recognize that employees are valuable assets who’s well-being directly influences organizational performance and long-term sustainability. Welfare measures, both statutory and non-statutory, provide employees with a safe, healthy, and supportive working environment, thereby improving their quality of work life and strengthening their commitment toward organizational goals.
The present study aims to examine employee welfare measures and their impact on employee satisfaction in the manufacturing sector. The study adopts a descriptive research design using both primary and secondary data. Primary data were collected through a structured questionnaire administered to 202 employees selected through convenience sampling. Secondary information was obtained from research journals, books, and other academic publications related to employee welfare. Descriptive statistical techniques such as percentage analysis were used to analyse employee perceptions regarding various welfare facilities.
The findings indicate that employees are generally satisfied with the welfare measures provided by their organization. Welfare initiatives related to health and safety, medical facilities, workplace environment, communication, and work-life balance positively influence employee satisfaction. The study concludes that organizations investing in comprehensive employee welfare programmes not only improve employee morale but also enhance productivity, reduce absenteeism and labour turnover, and strengthen organizational commitment.
