ABSTRACT
Emotional intelligence (EI) and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) have been acknowledged as significant factors of positive workplace behavior and organizational success. The current study is focused on examining the correlation between emotional intelligence and organizational citizenship behavior with an especial focus on exploring how people's skills for understanding, controlling, and properly expressing their emotions influence their workplace behavior and practices. The aspects of EI are to include self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, motivation, and social skills, and OCBs are to include altruism, conscientiousness, courtesy, sportsmanship, and civic virtue. The paper will discuss how emotionally intelligent workers can be characterized by better interpersonal relations, cooperation, adaptability, and readiness to go above and beyond of what is required from them. The necessity of proper balance between emotional competence and organizational citizenship behavior will be explained.
