ABSTRACT

In today’s world, business and individuals demand instant communication ability and for this internet communication is the vastly used media. The communication over internet has various security concerns associated with it because the information that is provided by the user of the internet may fall in unsafe hands and could cause a great damage to an individual or may result in huge losses for a business organization. The present paper provides a brief overview of various threats related to information security on internet. Various hacking techniques have been categorized and the impact of hacking on internet infrastructure has been elaborated. State-of the- art technologies used for security of information have been discussed in the present paper. The paper concludes by giving precautionary guidelines that must be followed while information disclosure on internet is being made.
