ABSTRACT

The present study has been undertaken to study the academic procrastination and locus of control among secondary school students. The sample consists of 200 secondary school students (100 male and 100 female) were selected from PSEB & CBSE Schools of Amritsar District with purposive and random sampling technique. The data was collected by using standardized scale of Academic Procrastination Scale (APS) by Kalia and Yadav (2015) and Locus of Control (LOC) by Vohra (1992). The data obtained was analysed statistically with the help of Mean, SD, t-ratio and ‘r’ and used to arrive at the following conclusions: (i) There exists significant difference in academic procrastination among male and female of secondary school students whereas, no significant difference in locus of control of male and female of secondary school students and hence this hypothesis is accepted. (ii) The study revealed that there exists significant difference in academic procrastination and locus of control of government and private secondary school students. (iii) It has been found that there exists significant difference in academic procrastination and locus of control of urban and rural secondary school students. (iv) The study also revealed that there exists positive relationship between academic procrastination and locus of control among secondary school students.
