ABSTRACT

Emerging from the object of welfare, ‘food security’ has been converted into a right necessary to live with basic human dignity. The enactment of National Food Security Act, 2013 has been market as a drastic step towards the shifting the approach to food security from welfare to rights based. The Article explores the legal implications of such shift from the analytical perspective through the analysis of primary data of legislation and judgements. The Article suggests ‘one nation one ration card’ as a measure to effective implementation of this right for a more labour centric work environment.
