ABSTRACT

Social entrepreneurship has emerged as a transformative force in addressing pressing social issues while creating sustainable economic opportunities. Unlike traditional businesses that primarily focus on profit maximization, social enterprises prioritize social missions, innovating to solve societal challenges. This paper explores the concept of social entrepreneurship, highlighting its unique position between the nonprofit and for-profit sectors. By examining the core components—social mission, innovation, sustainability, and stakeholder engagement—this study provides a framework for understanding how social enterprises contribute to sustainable development and inclusive growth. Key theories, including institutional theory, resource-based view, and the theory of change, are discussed to illustrate the mechanisms driving social impact in social entrepreneurship. Additionally, the paper considers the challenges faced by social entrepreneurs, such as resource constraints, regulatory hurdles, and the need for measurable impact. This conceptual paper concludes with insights into how social entrepreneurship can catalyze positive societal change and provides recommendations for future research, particularly on strategies for scaling social impact and fostering supportive ecosystems.
