Abstract

This article examines the Ethical Doctrine of State often referred to as the Dialectical Theory of State associated with the name of G.W.F Hegel, one of the greatest and perhaps most difficult political theorists of the State in Western intellectual tradition. Against the backdrop of other theories of State within the philosophical system of ideas such as the organic theories of the classical era of Plato and Aristotle and the social contract theories of Hobbes, Locke and Rousseau, the paper argued that his dialectical theory of State despite its pitfalls was an improvement on the Philosophical ideas on the State and its central role of distributing justice in the society.
