ABSTRACT

 

Small Scale Industries play a significant role in terms of their socio-economic worth for India. India is a leading developing nation of the world. India faces numerous socio-economic challenges today. Unemployment and poverty are among the most crucial problems being faced by India. With liberalization, Indian economy has got transformed into a vibrant open economy. Now, multinational companies can easily enter our nation and do business. This kind of interaction with world economy is no doubt required for the overall healthy growth of a nation but it is harsh socio-economic reality that multinational companies cannot match the employment generating potential of small scale Industries. Socio-economic relevance of small scale industry is quite obvious. SSI are playing meaningful role in export sector of the nation. Persistent efforts are required to promote SSI in India as a source of employment generation on a large scale and equitable distribution of income. These small scale industries have substantially grown during last few decades. Participation and involvement of women entrepreneurs will further promote meaningful role of Indian small scale industries in Indian economy.
